Our story
SDI Plastics is a full service plastic injection moulding company that specialises in product design and innovation, prototyping, toolmaking, manufacturing, packaging and the distribution of high quality products in Australia, and globally.
Headquartered in Brisbane, SDI Plastics are an Australian owned company, with additional operations based in Malaysia and China. Our organisation has over 150 years expertise in the field of product design, innovation and development and having worked with many start ups and well known organisations to help bring their products to life.
Providing end to end business solutions, our dedicated consulting teams, ensure that our customers receive individual service and care throughout their entire journey. Our attention to detail is unparalleled within our industry and we take pride in every single consignment dispatched from our distribution and warehousing facilities.
SDI Plastics now serves many industries that use a plastic injection moulded products and components and manufacture a broad range of products designed to meet the needs of a diverse and demanding customer base, producing over 1000 products each year.

SDI Plastics was established in 1993, by founder and co-director, Sewa Dhanda.
Starting the business with only two machines, Sewa had a lifelong ambition to operate his own plastics manufacturing business. He is a passionate enthusiast for solving complex problems and bringing new ideas to reality. Having in depth knowledge of the plastics injection moulding business and a burning desire to start his own company, Sewa’s fundamental philosophy is to believe in the ‘art of the possible’ and most importantly believe in yourself.
Fast track to today, SDI Plastics is growing exponentially and expanded operations to Malaysia and China. Our manufacturing operations have fully equipped tool rooms, over 50 moulding machines, robotic equipment and an exceptional workforce, with a combined staff experience of over 150 years.
SDI Plastics have achieved great successes for our clients, including recognition on ABC inventors TV shows, finalists in QLD’s Big Idea completion and design recognition in Las Vegas for mining products. Coupled with this, our team are proud to produce, manufacture and supply Australian made products of the highest quality. SDI Plastics have also achieved many successes in grant funding and established strong R&D partnerships with some of the most well respected organisations in the world.
